Manila ACM SIGGRAPH (“the chapter,” “we,” “us”)
Last updated: September 3, 2026
This policy covers the personal information we collect through manila.acmsiggraph.org, chapter membership applications, event registrations, and the chapter newsletter. It doesn’t cover ACM SIGGRAPH’s global sites or systems — those run under ACM’s own privacy policy
What we collect
When you join the chapter, register for an event, or subscribe to the newsletter, we ask for what’s needed to run those things and nothing more:
– Name and email address
– LinkedIn profile or professional website, where relevant to membership review
– Phone number, when you provide it for event coordination
– Organization or affiliation (studio, school, or independent) and role
– Any information you volunteer in an event registration form, a talk proposal, or a message to the chapter
We don’t ask for financial information, government identifiers, or anything beyond what a chapter needs to know who its members and event registrants are.
How we use it
– To process membership applications and maintain the chapter’s membership directory
– To register you for talks, screenings, workshops, and Showcase MNL
– To send the chapter newsletter and event announcements, if you’ve opted in
– To administer conference travel grants and student pipeline programmes
– To report aggregate, non-identifying membership figures to ACM SIGGRAPH as required of an accredited chapter
We don’t sell member data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t use it for anything beyond running the chapter.
Who sees it
Chapter officers who need it to run programming, membership, or grants see your information. Zoom, Discord, Mailchimp, and similar platforms we use to run events and send the newsletter process data on our behalf, under their own security terms — we pick vendors that meet reasonable data protection standards, but we don’t control their systems directly.
If you’re listed in the public chapter membership directory, that listing is voluntary. You can ask to be removed or edited at any time.
We don’t share member data with ACM SIGGRAPH’s other chapters, corporate sponsors, or any third party for marketing purposes.
Newsletter and email
The chapter newsletter goes out to people who’ve opted in through membership, event registration, or a direct signup. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the newsletter — it doesn’t remove you from chapter membership, which is a separate, opt-in status.
Cookies and site analytics
manila.acmsiggraph.org may use basic analytics to understand traffic — page views, referring sites, general location by country or city. This doesn’t identify you individually. If the site adds any tracking beyond basic analytics in the future, this policy will be updated to say so before it happens.
Data retention
We keep membership and event records for as long as you’re an active member, plus a reasonable period after for chapter recordkeeping and ACM reporting requirements. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to what we’re required to retain for accreditation or legal purposes.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
– Tell you what information we hold about you
– Correct anything that’s wrong
– Remove you from the newsletter or the public membership directory
– Delete your information outright, where we’re not required to retain it
Email manila-chapter [at] acmsiggraph [dot] org for any of the above.
Children’s privacy
Chapter membership and events are intended for university students and working professionals. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is used, we’ll post the update here with a new “last updated” date and, where the change is significant, note it in the chapter newsletter.
